 
| | Valentine Cookies 4 cups of sifted all purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon of salt
1 teaspoon of baking powder
1/2 pound (2 sticks) - unsalted butter
2 cups of sugar
2 large eggs
2 teaspoons of vanilla extract

In a large bowl, sift together the baking powder, salt, flour. In a separate bowl cream together butter and sugar until fluffy using a mixer or food processor. Add the eggs and beat. You can add food coloring at this point if you want red or pink cookies. Add the sifted flour mixture and mix on low speed until incorporated. Stir in vanilla. Wrap in cellophane. Chill for 1 hour. Preheat oven to 325ºF. Roll out dough on a floured surface. Cut into heart shapes and place on ungreased cookie sheet. The cookies will take about 8-10 minutes to bake. |
