Place the carrots, onion, celery in the the bottom of the crock pot. Place the whole chicken on top of the vegetables. Sprinkle with salt and pepper and add liquid over top. Sprinkle the basil over the top. Cover and cook on LOW for 8 to 10 hours (HIGH 3 1/2 to 5 hours), using 1 cup of water. Remove the chicken and vegetables with spatula. |
