2 sticks of butter or margarine 4 squares of unsweetened chocolate 2 cups of sugar 4 large eggs 1 cup of flour 2 teaspoons of baking powder 2 teaspoons of vanilla 1/2 to 1 cup of pecans or walnuts, chopped
Melt chocolate in margarine over low heat. Stir sugar into mixture. Add eggs to cooled batter. Sift flour and baking powder together; slowly mix into egg mixture; add vanilla. Fold in chopped nuts. Preheat oven to 350ºF. to 375ºF. Line a 13 x 9 x 2 pan with waxed paper, bake brownies 30 to 35 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean. Turn out of pan, peel off waxed paper and turn up right side in a container that can be covered. Glaze while hot with prepared frosting if desired. Covering hot brownies keeps them moist.
