2 cups of sugar 2 cups of flour 4 teaspoons of cocoa 1 stick margarine 1/2 cup of salad oil 1/2 cup of buttermilk 2 eggs 1 teaspoon of baking soda 1 cup of water
Sift flour, sugar and cocoa in bowl. Bring to a boil in separate pan, water, margarine, oil. Pour over dry mixture and beat thoroughly. (I use Egg Beaters). Add eggs, soda and buttermilk. Beat. Pour into 10 1/4 x 15 1/4 inch brownie pan. Bake 400ºF. for 18-24 minutes. Test for doneness. While baking brownies, mix frosting.
Frosting
1/3 cup of buttermilk 1/4 cup of cocoa 1 teaspoon of vanilla 1 stick margarine 4 cups of powdered sugar (or more)
Bring buttermilk, margarine and cocoa to boil. Add vanilla and powdered sugar. Beat until smooth. Spread on very warm brownies immediately. Can top with nuts also.
