1 cup of self rising flour 1/2 ounces of butter or margarine 2 ounces of dried fruit 1/2 teaspoon of salt 1/2 ounces of sugar 1 egg, optional Enough milk to mix to soft dough | |
Sift flour and salt. Work in butter or margarine. Add the sugar and fruit, then mix with beaten egg and milk to a soft dough. Turn on to floured surface and roll out lightly to 1 inch. thickness. Cut out and put on greased baking sheet. Brush the tops with milk and bake near top of hot oven for about 10 minutes. Until well risen and golden. Makes 10 |
